DAYDREAM ISLAND RESORT OFFICIAL REOPENS

Following an extensive redevelopment from damage caused by Cyclone Debbie, Daydream Island Resort is now officially welcoming guests

Located in the heart of Queensland's Whitsunday Islands, Daydream Islands most definitely lives up to it's name. First opened back in 1939, Daydream Island Resort the private hideaway stretches less than a mile long and is dotted with secluded coves and secret diving spots.

But in 2017 this paradise was decimated after being hit by the category 4-level Cyclone Debbie but after an extensive two-year redevelopment and $72million of investment, paradise has been reborn!

Now offering 277 refurbished modern rooms and suites, the revitalized island offers relaxed dining concepts, vibrant bars and all furnished in chic, understated tones with contemporary styling touches.

Inspired by the picturesque North Queensland island, Daydream Island Resort has been designed by architects Hunt Design to reflect our relaxed, outdoorsy and quintessentially Australian lifestyle. “We wanted the new Daydream Island Resort to reflect the beauty of its surroundings through the architecture, design and dining direction,” says Daydream Island Resort’s general manager Dawson Tang. “We have embraced the favourite memories of our guests by reinstating the Living Reef, the Outdoor Cinema and an ode to the mermaids,” he adds.

The island has also introduced a new pool landscape allowing guests to swim and enjoy unparalleled views across the Whitsunday’s Great Barrier Reef. The swimming hub is complemented by a poolside bar inclusive of a new burger concept.

The Living Reef has also made a comeback, cementing the resort’s eco-friendly and education focus. The free form coral lagoon wraps 200m around the central building and hold over 1.5 million litres of water. Here, guests can join the resorts resident marine biologists in feeding baby sting rays or check out the new underwater observatory 4metres below the water’s surface to watch the marine life in action.

For families, kids will have the chance to become eco-warriors at the Kids Club as they explore and learn about the Living Reef while playing and feeding the animals who call it home, amongst a range of other activities around the island.
