The DeWitt Academia Endless Drive

Ahead of this years SIHH, Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2018 (Geneva, January 15-19) DeWitt announce the release of their latest timepiece the new DeWitt Academia Endless Drive.

The niche high-end watch maker owned by Mr. Jerome DeWitt - a decedent of Napoleon Bonaparte. Jerome are known for creating mechanical masterpieces and the new Academia Endless Drive does not disappoint.

Set against a a contrasting black background the hours and minutes are displayed upon two small rotating discs set on either side of the eye-catching face located at 9 and 3 o’clock that rotate around a rotating endless screw. This winding mechanism confers an unusual movement to the helical screw, which is linked to the power reserve’s winding system, as the 59-hour power reserve decreases, the screw rotates. When the barrel is wound, the screw slides on its longitudinal axis.

The 42.5 mm diameter round case creates an interplay of contrasting effects through the combination of traditional and innovative materials, 18-carat rose gold and black rubber, subtly recreating the famous imperial column motif, the distinctive signature of the brand with the symbol of Emperor Napoleon I. Two small "W" signatures are also found on the crown and on the buckle.

Completed by a black satin calfskin leather strap secured by a rose gold triple folding clasp, the limited edition of just 60 pieces has a price of Swiss Francs 38,500.
