BREAKING THE RULES WITH BVLGARI

As a tribute to Pop Culture and all things disco, luxury jewellery brand Bvlgari has released a new collection aptly titled “Wild Pop”. Think dramatic colour combinations, an aesthetic that challenges every high-end jewellery convention and the disruptive spirit of the 1980’s and you’ll understand the rule-breaking approach to this new and bold collection.

Inspired by the eclectic spirit of the era, Bvlgari plays with rare gemstones, bold designs and fabulous craftsmanship for this highly unexpected 80 –piece collection which is –of course – highly impressive.

While of the pieces capture the excitement and eccentricity of the 80’s there are some stand out pieces from the collection, the first is thePlatinum ‘Queen of Pop’ necklace with its blinding 24.80 carat sapphire, baguette diamonds, mint green tourmalines and sapphires, epitomising the pop art style in line with the practices of high jewellery art. Audacious, unexpected and unapologetic, it unifies all the essential rules of Bvlgari design.

The ‘Magnificent Green Ruffles’ was created based on the fashion advice of Alexis Carrington, the heroine of the 1980s stalwart TV series Dynasty: “When it doubt, add some ruffles to your dress,” is a real sensation, adorned with a superlative Colombian emerald weighing 34.12 carats.

The tropical vibe of Miami Vice is echoed in the Serpenti My Handcuff Watch. A special system of tiny hidden springs moves each of the 30 malachite hexagons covering the cuff. The diamond snake set atop the watch is set with diamonds in white gold and accented by rubellites.

" Bvlgari re-immagines a generation when fashion, art and music collided"

Reminiscent of the magnificent Manhattan skyline, the ‘Supreme Diamond Light’ set of earrings, a ring and a bracelet are inspired by Bvlgari’s enduring love for New York; taking inspiration from the city’s spectacular skyscrapers and mantra that “the city never sleeps.”

The most rebellious piece in the collection has to be the elegant ‘Happy Leaves’ necklace.

A satirical nod to the recreational use of the herb is comprised of gold, and decorated with pavé diamonds totaling 14.63 carats and emeralds weighing 5.60 carats this strikingly glamorous piece is an elegant reflection of the hippy consumption that captured a complete generation. With jewellery savoir faire this collections captures the cultural revolution made of audacity and freedom.
